ISRO prepares to launch RISAT-2BR1 surveillance satellite at 3:25 PM on December 11

Besides launching RISAT -2BR1, ISRO will also launch nine foreign satellites as co-passengers of the Indian satellite using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) at 3:25 PM on Wednesday (December 11).

ISRO veterans recall workhorse rocket PSLV’s journey ahead of its 50th launch

The rocket’s primary payload will be an Indian Radar imaging earth observation satellite (RISAT-2BR1) weighing about 628 kg, which will be placed into a 576 km orbit. ISRO states that the RISAT -2BR1 would be used for agriculture, forestry and disaster management.

ISRO successfully injects Cartosat-3 spacecraft, 13 other satellites into respective orbits

The 13 other satellites were also successfully placed in their designated orbits. “PSLV-C47 successfully injects Cartosat-3 spacecraft into orbit. 13 commercial satellites from USA successfully placed in their designated orbits,” tweeted ISRO.

After the successful launch, ISRO chief Dr K Sivan expressed his happiness. He said, “I am happy that PSLV-C47 injected precisely in the orbit with 13 other satellites. Cartosat-3 is highest resolution civilian satellite; We have 13 missions up to March- 6 large vehicle missions and 7 satellite missions.”
