Addressing the 25th session of Conference of Parties (COP) under the UN Framework Convention of Climate Change in Spain’s Madrid, Javadekar said that India is `walking the talk` in its climate change commitments.
The rocket’s primary payload will be an Indian Radar imaging earth observation satellite (RISAT-2BR1) weighing about 628 kg, which will be placed into a 576 km orbit. ISRO states that the RISAT -2BR1 would be used for agriculture, forestry and disaster management.
Accordingly, India’s current levels of per capita emissions and energy use are still comparatively low and, along with ambitious 2030 targets, result in high ratings for the GHG Emissions and Energy Use categories. While the country receives an overall medium rating in the Renewable Energy category, India’s 2030 renewable energy target is rated very high for its well-below 2°C compatibility.
On its website, a statement was issued by the space agency on September 10, 2019, stating, “Vikram lander has been located by the orbiter of Chandrayaan-2, but no communication with it yet. All possible efforts are being made to establish communication with the lander.”
The 13 other satellites were also successfully placed in their designated orbits. “PSLV-C47 successfully injects Cartosat-3 spacecraft into orbit. 13 commercial satellites from USA successfully placed in their designated orbits,” tweeted ISRO.
After the successful launch, ISRO chief Dr K Sivan expressed his happiness. He said, “I am happy that PSLV-C47 injected precisely in the orbit with 13 other satellites. Cartosat-3 is highest resolution civilian satellite; We have 13 missions up to March- 6 large vehicle missions and 7 satellite missions.”
PSLV-C47 will launch Cartosat-3 and 13 commercial nanosatellites into the Sun-synchronous orbit. Cartosat-3 satellite is a third-generation agile advanced satellite having high-resolution imaging capability.
