Upcoming Cars 2020-21: New Electric Cars- TESLA, BMW, FORD, LEXUS
The auto show season in November in USA witness new and upcoming car models for the next or upcoming year. The manufacturers of the various cars introduce vehicles for the next model year, some of the car are redesigned with all new refreshed look or there are all-new models that cover the entire space of convention centers across the United States.
This year would see brand new models of cars – Ford, Cadillac and Lexus amongst the others. Also spotted would be Sports cars, luxury cars, and convertibles being the new vehicles of interest waiting for you. Here, we have compiled the newer or redesigned cars that are upcoming in USA this and next year.
Volvo luxury hybrid car Polestar 1 is the first car by its own performance sub- brand. It is a unique electronically controlled two-door plug-in hybrid car. It was initially presented as a concept car by Volvo in 2013 and has emerged as a front runner in the small high-performance hybrid car market.
Polestar 1 all new model is made with a world-class engineering and high-grade components that promise an uncompromised design. It is a sports car that has a carbon-fiber body to save the weight, a unique electronically controlled suspension and torque-vectoring rear differential lets you enjoy your drives to the most. Polestar will be building 500 cars, with 200 cars specifically designated for North American customers. It is expected to be available in the late 2019.
Cost: starting price of $155,000.
The Tesla Roadster is the successor to the first production car by Tesla – 2008 Roadster. The upcoming Tesla Roadster will set the performance benchmark for electric vehicles as it is all electric and battery powered. It is supposed to be the first supercar with four seats as most of them just have seating for two.
Tesla Roadster is thought to be the fastest car which will be able to zoom from zero to 60 mph in less than two seconds and has a top speed exceeding 250 mph and a range of 620 miles.
Cost: starting price around $200,000
Toyota is developing a rear-wheel drive platform for the Supra in collaboration with BMW, which would result in smooth and straight-six power sports car with aggressive styling and interior. Everything in the car interior is similar to that of a BMW. This two seater sports coupe has all things from switchgear to iDrive controller and central touch screen from BMW. The all new Supra is being made alongside the new 2019 BMW Z4 at the same plant in Germany.
This Toyota Supra will be powered by turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine from BMW as well that produces 335 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. It is expected to be available later in 2019.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
The new Mustang Shelby GT500 is supposedly the most powerful production that has ever been built by Ford. The Mustang will have a more than 700 horsepower engine from a 5.2-liter V8. The Mustang will be styled to that of the current generation, its design displays two prominent racing stripes that run right down the middle and a large front grille showing off an eye catching logo with the Shelby Cobra logo. It is expected that the Ford could possibly include a three-pedal manual transmission in the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
According to the announcement by Ford, the Mustang is expected to arrive in the fall of 2019 and it has conveyed that this model of Ford Mustang will not be available as a convertible. As the last model of Mustang GT350, lists at $59,140 and is currently the most powerful Mustang on the market, the new model Shelby GT500 will obviously be expected to cost quite a bit more, though the exact market price has not yet been announced.
The M340i trim ports sedan will be available with all-wheel drive (M340i xDrive) and is considered to be the most powerful 3 Series ever built by BMW besides its M3 model. The new M340i will be powered by a turbocharged inline-six engine producing 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. BMW reveals its new M340i will accelerate from zero to 60 mph within four seconds. The interior of the car offers a modern space with a major focus on driving enjoyment. It is a five-seater car with more space in the second row than its previous model.
Standard tech features of BMW M340i include 10.25-inch touch screen, self-parking technology a 12.3-inch digital gauge display along with all-new iDrive 7 Operating System.

Lexus LC Convertible
The Lexus LC convertible is a concept version of their luxury sports car LC Coupe at the Detroit Auto Show. This convertible model resembles the LC coupe quite closely except for the sloped roofline. It has not been sure whether this car would have either have a fabric convertible soft top or a metal hardtop. LC convertible will have the same 471-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine as the LC coupe. The engine comes mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It is its “concept” tag that makes this convertible unique, instead it is just looks identical to the production LC coupe. It displays same headlamps, massive grille, identical wheels, identical mirror caps and a similar rear fascia, the difference lies in the windshield for better aerodynamics and missing roof.
Cost: expected pricing to be around $100,000
Toyota Corolla Hybrid
The Toyota Corolla Hybrid is all new model by Toyota that will come powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine combined with two electric motors with a combination producing a total of 121 horsepower. It will be built on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform, and will adopt the hybrid technology which expects it to be the most fuel efficient car. The all-new Corolla Hybrid Toyota is introducing new technology with the Corolla Hybrid’s nickel-metal hydride battery pack called as the Hyper-Prime Nickel. This new technology will increases the performance of the battery also making it smaller and lighter. The Corolla Hybrid’ infotainment features will include an 8-inch touch screen, Apple Car Play, Amazon Alexa, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and many other features as 7-inch display showing speed, hybrid efficiency, and ECO accelerator guidance. The 2020 Corolla Hybrid will be going on sale this spring.

Toyota Camry TRD
As the name says Toyota Racing Development (TRD) line, what hits the mind is of off-roading vehicles but with Toyota Camry TRD, Toyota is bringing their TRD badging and styling to the Camry and Avalon. The Camry TRD is powered by a 301-horsepower via 3.5-liter V6 engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Camry TRD is expected to be a sportier version of the sedan with 19-inch wheels and specially tuned shock absorbers. A specially tuned black exhaust gives the Camry TRD a deep sound while idling and accelerating. An aerodynamic package adds a rear spoiler, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a front splitter for both visual styling and high-speed stability.
The Camry TRD’s interior upgrades involve black synthetic leather sport seats with fabric inserts that include red accents, contrast stitching, headrests and seat belts with red colored TRD badging on shift knob; floor mats and trunk mat; and splash screen on the multi-information display.
Cost: expected to be under $24,000
Toyota Avalon TRD
Toyota is also adding their TRD (Toyota Racing Development) badging to their large car, the Toyota Avalon. The Avalon TRD is expected to be similar to the Camry TRD featuring 19-inch wheels, specially tuned shock absorbers. Avalon TRD will also come powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that will produce over 300 horsepower.
The interior of the Avalon TRD will resemble to that of the Camry TRD but would be just slightly larger. The TRD logo would be seen embroidered on the headrests, shift knob, trunk floor, and floor mats as the Camry TRD. The Avalon TRD will be available in four colors that are Supersonic Red, Celestial Silver Metallic, Wind chill Pearl, and Midnight Black Metallic. Both the Toyota TRD line models – Camry TRD and Avalon TRD are expected to be available with the 2020 models.

Lexus RC F Track Edition
Lexus is introducing the RC F Track Edition –where the “F” is possibly for fun, fast, or even furious. The updated Lexus RC F model will add a bit of oomph, by upping the horsepower numbers to 472 and increasing torque by six pound-feet. There is seen a revised gearing for the eight-speed automatic which is said to help acceleration, this edition model focuses in shifting weight as the previous model weighed hefty. Pricing for the RC F and RC F Track Edition have not been released, although the model is expected to arrive on dealer lots sometime this spring.
